Your products on Google Shopping.

Your shop already publishes an up-to-date product feed. All that is left is to declare it once in Google Merchant Center: your products can then appear in the Shopping tab and in Google's results.

Before you start, in JEIKO

  1. The shop is online (Shop › Settings): the feed does not exist until it is.
  2. Every product has an image, a description and a price. A free item is left out of the feed: Google rejects zero prices.
  3. Fill in the brand and the GTIN (EAN barcode) when they exist. JEIKO never makes them up: a handmade product without a barcode is accepted without one.
  4. Shipping costs and the returns policy are set in Shop › Settings.

1 — Create the Merchant Center account

  1. Go to merchants.google.com with a Google account.
  2. Enter the business name, the country and your website address.

2 — Verify and claim the website

Google must make sure the site is yours. The simplest way: go through Google Search Console with the same Google account, and verify the domain with a TXT DNS record at your domain registrar. Merchant Center then recognises the site in one click.

3 — Shipping and returns

In Merchant Center, declare your shipping costs and times, then your returns policy. They must be identical to the ones on your site: a mismatch is enough to get products rejected.

4 — Declare the product feed

  1. Products › Add products › from a file › enter a link to your file.
  2. The address, with your domain:

https://your-domain.com/shop/flux/google.xml

  1. Choose a daily fetch. The feed keeps itself up to date: a new product, a changed price or an out-of-stock item shows up at the next fetch.

What the feed contains

  1. Each variant (size, colour, plan) is an item, with its own address: the page that preselects it and shows its price.
  2. A subscription is declared as such, with its period: “€9 per month” does not read as a one-off purchase.
  3. Availability follows the stock; the price is the one on the page, tax included.

5 — Follow the diagnostics

After the first fetch, Merchant Center lists the products accepted and the ones with issues, with the reason (image too small, price different from the page, missing shipping information…). Fix them in JEIKO: the next feed takes it into account.

Merchant Center screens are often renamed; the steps stay the same.
