Take payments online with Stripe.

Shop, paid appointments, courses, subscriptions: JEIKO takes payments through Stripe. Allow twenty minutes the first time — in test mode first, then live.

Before you start

You need an account on stripe.com. You can set everything up in test mode before activating the account; to take real payments, Stripe then asks for your business details and the bank account for payouts.

1 — Get the keys

  1. In the Stripe dashboard, switch to test mode (toggle at the top).
  2. Developers › API keys: copy the publishable key (it starts with pk_test_) and the secret key (sk_test_).

2 — Enter them in JEIKO

  1. Administration › Shop › Payment methods › Stripe.
  2. Public API key: the publishable key; Secret key: the secret key.
  3. Tick Test mode and Active, then save. Secret keys are encrypted in the database.

3 — Declare the webhook

This is how Stripe tells your site that a payment went through. Without it, the order stays “pending” even when the card has been charged.

  1. Stripe › Developers › Webhooks (depending on your version: Workbench › Webhooks) › Add destination.
  2. Endpoint URL, with your domain:

https://your-domain.com/shop/webhook/stripe/

  1. Events to select: payment_intent.succeeded, payment_intent.payment_failed, payment_intent.canceled, checkout.session.completed, checkout.session.async_payment_succeeded, checkout.session.async_payment_failed, checkout.session.expired, customer.subscription.created, customer.subscription.updated, customer.subscription.deleted, invoice.paid, invoice.payment_failed, charge.refunded, charge.dispute.created.
  2. Save, then copy the signing secret (it starts with whsec_) into JEIKO's Webhook secret field. Without it, your site rejects Stripe's messages: that is what stops a third party from faking a payment.

4 — Subscriptions: the customer portal

If you sell subscriptions, your customers manage them from their account (“Manage my subscriptions”): that is Stripe's customer portal. Turn it on in Stripe › Settings › Billing › Customer portal, allowing cancellation and card updates.

5 — Test

  1. Place an order on your site with the test card 4242 4242 4242 4242, any future date and any code.
  2. The order must show as paid in Shop › Orders, and the webhook must show a 200 response in Stripe.

6 — Go live

  1. Activate your Stripe account, then switch the dashboard back to live mode.
  2. Live keys (pk_live_, sk_live_) and the live webhook are different from the test ones: repeat steps 1 to 3 in live mode, with the new signing secret.
  3. Untick Test mode in JEIKO.

An “invalid signature” message in the webhook log almost always means the signing secret belongs to the other mode (test or live).
